Lineup Volatility

Per-team rotation stability score across the WNBA. Higher score = more day-over-day consistency in who plays starter minutes. Useful for assessing prop-bet roster risk: a volatile team's "starter" props are harder to time. Last updated: Oct 22, 2026, 11:07 AM ET.

What this is. A snapshot read of the rotation stability score that powers RotationIQ. The score is the overlap (0.0 to 1.0) between this team's top-5 players in their two most recent games. 1.0 means identical top-5 across both nights; 0.0 means a completely different set. The headline-level table here is single-day; longitudinal volatility (rolling 7-14 day) is a v0.5 follow-up. Not a betting recommendation; not picks.

How this works

The stability score comes from public/wnba/rotation_iq.json, built by scripts/wnba/build_wnba_rotation_iq.py. For each team, the builder finds the two most recent games where 5+ players have logged minutes, then computes the size of the intersection between each game's top-5 players (by minutes) divided by 5.

  • 1.0 ("Highly stable") — identical top-5 across both nights.
  • 0.85–0.99 ("Highly stable") — same 4-of-5, one rotation tweak.
  • 0.6–0.84 ("Stable") — same 3-of-5 or 4-of-5 with frequent tweaks.
  • 0.4–0.59 ("Mixed") — half the top-5 changed.
  • 0.0–0.39 ("Volatile" / "Highly volatile") — major rotation shift between nights.
