The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 8-6 at American Family Field, riding three home runs in the first three innings to build a cushion that survived a late Chicago rally. Logan Henderson earned the win, Kevin Gausman took the loss. Gausman lasted just four innings and gave up six earned runs on 94 pitches. He struck out six. Henderson worked five scoreless frames for Milwaukee, fanning six on 95 pitches and lowering his ERA to 2.34. The Brewers led 8-1 after six. Christian Yelich opened the scoring with a three-run homer in the first inning, plating Brice Turang and William Contreras. Jackson Chourio launched a solo shot in the second, then Contreras added a two-run blast later that frame to score Turang again. Chourio drove in another with a single in the third, and Contreras capped the damage with an RBI single in the sixth. The K model projected both starters accurately; Gausman and Henderson each struck out six. The NRFI model had a strong lean, and the first inning was scoreless before Yelich came to the plate with two men on. Chicago scored five times in the ninth but left the tying run at second.
