New York Mets at New York Yankees

The Mets buried the Yankees 12-2 at Yankee Stadium, scoring in five separate innings and launching seven home runs. Francisco Lindor went 3-for-5 with two homers, five RBI, and two runs. Luis Torrens and Carson Benge each added a home run and combined for five RBI in support of starter Zac Thornton. Thornton earned the win with seven innings of two-run ball, striking out four on 81 pitches. His ERA now sits at 3.44. Gerrit Cole took the loss after surrendering five earned runs over 4.1 innings, punching out four while throwing 77 pitches. His ERA climbed to 3.67. Lindor opened the scoring in the first with a solo shot to right. Torrens followed with a two-run homer in the second and Benge went deep in the third, staking the Mets to an early 4-0 lead. The Yankees answered with a Cody Bellinger RBI single in the fourth and a solo homer from Bellinger in the sixth, but the Mets pulled away late. Lindor capped the rout with a grand slam in the eighth inning, his second homer of the night and 20th of the season. The K model projections aligned with actuals. Both Thornton and Cole recorded four strikeouts. The NRFI model leaned neutral, and the first inning stayed scoreless before Lindor homered in the top of the first.
