Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays

Toronto dismantled Baltimore 8-1 at Rogers Centre, scoring seven runs in the final four frames after a quiet first half. Dylan Cease earned the win with five innings of one-run ball, punching out nine while throwing 94 pitches. Trevor Rogers took the loss, surrendering four earned runs over six innings and 95 pitches with five strikeouts and an ERA now at 4.22. George Springer led the offensive surge with two hits in five trips, a home run, and four runs batted in. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 4-for-5 with a solo shot of his own. Kazuma Okamoto added a third homer, his 32nd of the season, as Toronto plated three runs in the fifth on three consecutive fly balls out of the park. The Orioles drew first blood in the top of the fifth when Pete Alonso singled to right, plating Dylan Beavers. Toronto answered immediately. Springer homered to right center, Guerrero launched one to left, and Okamoto followed suit. Three swings, three runs, game over. Cease met his strikeout projection exactly at nine, while Rogers fell one short of his posted total at five. The NRFI model leaned no run in the first, but Toronto scratched across in the second when Andrés Giménez doubled off a deflection by third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand, scoring Charles McAdoo. The eighth inning turned rout when Springer doubled in three more after a bases-loaded walk pushed the lead to six.
