Toronto took down Oakland 4-2 at Sutter Health Park, riding a pair of second-inning home runs and seven innings of two-run ball from José Soriano. The Blue Jays plated three of their four runs in the second and never trailed. Soriano worked seven frames, allowing two earned runs while striking out three over 89 pitches. His ERA now sits at 3.48. Jack Perkins took the loss after five innings and 85 pitches, surrendering four earned on three strikeouts. His ERA climbed to 6.53. Josh Smith and Kazuma Okamoto went back to back in the second. Smith launched his sixth home run of the year to right, Okamoto followed with his 30th to left. Toronto added an insurance run in the sixth when Alejandro Kirk singled home Nathan Lukes, then Vladimir Guerrero Jr. scored on a Smith double-play grounder. Oakland cut it to 4-2 in the seventh when Donovan Walton lined his sixth homer to right, but Spencer Miles locked down the save. The NRFI model leaned neutral and missed. First-inning scoring occurred. Soriano logged three strikeouts, matching the K model actual. Perkins also punched out three.
