RestTax — Fatigue & Schedule Research
A composite fatigue signal evaluating rest days, schedule density (3-in-4), and overnight travel burden for active players on today's NBA slate.
Sport NBA
Research tool — not official picks. This tool surfaces contextual data that pure hit-rate models don't capture. Higher scores indicate greater schedule-induced fatigue.
RestTax isn't published yet. The RestTax feed for the NBA has not been written. This page fills in once the first daily build lands.
How this works
For each player active on today's NBA slate, we compute a composite fatigue score from 0 to 10 based on their recent game logs:
- Back-to-back (+4) — Player played a game yesterday.
- 3-in-4 (+2) — Today is the player's 3rd (or more) game in a 4-day window.
- Travel Burden — Evaluated only on back-to-backs. Compares yesterday's game location with today's game location.
- Long travel (+2) — Distance between arenas is 1,000+ miles.
- Short travel (+1) — Distance between arenas is < 1,000 miles.
This is a v0 research implementation. The distance heuristic uses a hardcoded NBA arena coordinate mapping to calculate great-circle miles.
